New Members

The British Chamber of Commerce in Japan (BCCJ) warmly welcomes TTP to our vibrant community.

In TTP's own words

TTP is an independent technology and product development consultancy with nearly 40 years of experience helping ambitious organisations turn complex ideas into successful, real-world solutions. From early-stage innovation through to regulated product delivery, we work as a long-term technical partner to our clients, combining deep engineering expertise with a strong understanding of commercial and user needs.

What sets TTP apart is our ability to tackle the hardest problems, particularly those where uncertainty, technical risk and multidisciplinary complexity intersect. Our teams bring together scientists, engineers, designers and software specialists who collaborate closely with clients to accelerate innovation, reduce development risk and create products that deliver meaningful impact. Clients value our independence, creativity and honesty, as well as our focus on practical outcomes rather than theoretical solutions.

TTP has a particularly strong track record in medical devices, diagnostics and life sciences, supporting organisations from concept through to clinical use and manufacture. We work extensively in regulated environments and have deep experience with quality systems, usability engineering, verification and validation, and regulatory strategy. This allows our clients to move faster with confidence, knowing that technical decisions are made with downstream regulatory and clinical requirements in mind.

Our medical and life sciences work spans areas such as in-vitro diagnostics, drug delivery systems, surgical tools, digital health, imaging technologies and laboratory automation. We frequently help clients integrate hardware, software, electronics and biology into coherent, user-centred solutions. These include novel diagnostic platforms, connected medical devices and scalable systems for high-throughput analysis. By keeping patients, clinicians and operators at the centre of the design process, we help ensure products are not only technically robust but also intuitive, safe and effective in real-world settings.

Beyond technical delivery, TTP adds value by acting as a trusted innovation partner. We support strategic decision-making, explore adjacent opportunities and help clients navigate uncertainty with clear, evidence-based thinking. Many of our client relationships span years and multiple programmes, reflecting the trust placed in us to deliver critical innovation at pace.

Ultimately, working with TTP means gaining a partner who thrives on complexity, understands regulated markets and is committed to turning breakthrough ideas into products that genuinely improve lives.

Matthew Carr, Chief Operating Officer, Life Sciences

'Japan represents an important strategic market for TTP, particularly in healthcare, life sciences and deep technology. We see significant opportunity to combine Japanese industrial leadership and global reach with TTP’s multidisciplinary product development expertise. By joining the BCCJ, we aim to strengthen existing relationships, build new partnerships and better understand the evolving needs of the Japanese market. We are excited to work alongside fellow members to turn ambitious ideas into commercially successful products that improve lives.'

Why did you join the BCCJ?

As a UK company working closely with Japanese and global technology partners, including life science companies, we see the Chamber as a natural platform to deepen strategic relationships, understand local market priorities and position TTP as a trusted technology innovation partner. We joined the BCCJ to be part of a respected community that connects UK and Japan-based organisations around shared commercial and societal goals, and to explore where our capabilities can help members create new value.

What do you most hope to gain as a member?

We hope to gain a deeper, practical understanding of how the healthcare, life science and medtech markets in Japan are evolving – including regulation, partnership models and effective routes to market for new diagnostic and health‑tech solutions. We also want to learn from other members’ experience of building sustainable UK–Japan collaborations, in both commercial projects and wider innovation, and to turn that learning into real opportunities for joint partnership. In addition, we are keen to join joint events where we can hear from key opinion leaders and exchange perspectives, so we can better understand where TTP can add the most value as a partner.

What makes your organisation unique?

TTP combines deep scientific and engineering capability with a consultancy model: we do not compete with our clients by selling our own products, but instead work behind the scenes to help them create differentiated systems and platforms under their brands. Our ability to integrate consumable design, instrument engineering, software and manufacturing considerations and biology within a single organisation, supported by dedicated ISO 13485 facilities, is rare in our industry and enables faster, lower risk product realisation.

Recent achievements or milestones

Recent milestones demonstrate how TTP turns advanced engineering into real business value. Over the past year, one TTP-created company focused on scalable cell therapy manufacturing closed an oversubscribed Series A funding round, while another spin-out developing high-speed cell sorting technology was acquired by a major biotechnology company.

In diagnostics, a platform developed by TTP has achieved key U.S. regulatory clearances for infectious disease testing, enabling it to be sold and used widely in clinical settings.

These examples highlight how TTP’s work supports funded start-ups, strategic acquisitions, and approved products—creating tangible returns for investors and industry partners.

Collaborations and connections we seek at the BCCJ

Through the BCCJ we are excited to meet organisations where we can combine strengths and create new opportunities for everyone involved.

We would especially love to connect with

  • Diagnostics, life‑science, medtech and deep‑tech companies looking for a product and technology development partner to help turn ambitious ideas into differentiated, scalable solutions.
  • We’re also keen to speak with organisations exploring UK–Japan collaboration in healthcare and deep technology, including R&D, pilot projects and innovation programmes that could benefit from TTP’s multidisciplinary teams and experience in regulated markets.
  • Finally, we are interested in joining events where we can hear from key opinion leaders and exchange perspectives with other members, so we can spot opportunities for partnership and understand where TTP can add the most value as a technology and product development partner.
